About YLDS
YLDS is a dollar token issued by Figure Certificate Corp, a subsidiary of Figure Markets. It differs fundamentally from ordinary stablecoins: it is registered with the US SEC as a security and may therefore openly pay interest to holders.
That is the exact opposite of the USDT and USDC design, which pays no interest precisely to avoid registration. YLDS shows the other available path — accepting that a yield-bearing token is a security and submitting to the corresponding oversight, including rules on who may hold it.
The token runs on the Provenance blockchain. Its interest lies mainly in being a precedent for how a yield-bearing dollar token can be launched legally in the US market, rather than in trading volume.
