A substitute for Google Trends: it has no public API and its unofficial endpoint rejects even ordinary IP addresses. Wikipedia serves daily article readership since 2015 for free and measures just as well who is reading up on crypto right now.

Retail — ordinary people with no standing relationship to the market — arrives in crypto late, usually after months of rising prices. That makes the crowd's attention a useful companion signal for cycle tops: by the time the whole internet cares, it is usually late.

YouTube — median views per video from the public RSS feeds of the eight largest English-speaking channels. App Store — where exchange apps sit among the most downloaded free apps in the US. Wikipedia — daily readership of the Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency, Ethereum and Dogecoin articles.

Retail heat is a weighted average of these parts. Wikipedia has its own five-year history so it carries the most weight; for YouTube and the app charts we build the history ourselves, one day at a time.
