About Virtuals Protocol
Virtuals Protocol is a 2024 platform on which anyone can create an AI agent, issue a token for it and have it earn — in games, on social networks or in trading. It is built on Base and later expanded to Solana and Ethereum.
Each agent has its own token, and VIRTUAL serves as the platform's common currency: it buys stakes in agents and provides liquidity for their markets. A whole speculative "AI agent" sector formed around this in 2024 and 2025, where prices moved on mood more than on what the agents could do.
The project's question is therefore practical: how many agents have real usage and revenue. Tokenising a tool does not create value by itself, and most agents still lack a demonstrated business model.
