Pump.fun is a Solana platform on which anyone can issue their own memecoin in seconds with no technical knowledge. The token sells along a curve where the price rises with demand, and once it reaches a threshold, liquidity moves to an ordinary exchange.
The platform became one of the most profitable projects in crypto overall — it takes a fee from every issuance and from trading. It is also among the most criticised: the vast majority of tokens created through it end up worthless, and the platform has repeatedly faced accusations of enabling fraudulent launches.
Its own PUMP token was sold in 2025. Its value is tied to issuance volume on the platform — a phenomenon that is cyclical by nature, as memecoin fever comes and goes with market mood.
