About Pi Network
Pi Network began in 2019 at Stanford with the aim of making "mining" accessible to anyone with a phone. A user confirms activity in the app once a day and is credited Pi. It is not real mining — the phone computes nothing — it is supply distribution in exchange for attention and for inviting others.
That model gave the project an enormous user base and also drew the most criticism: it resembles a structure where growth depends on recruiting further participants. For years the coin could not be transferred or sold, because the network ran in a closed mode.
The open network launched only in 2025, six years after the start. Until then prices existed only on unofficial markets. For a project with such a long closed phase, the key things to watch are how many coins actually reach circulation and what real liquidity they have.
