About PancakeSwap
PancakeSwap is the largest decentralized exchange on BNB Chain, launched in 2020 by an anonymous team. It arrived when Ethereum fees were unbearable and offered the same for a fraction of the cost. Today it also runs on other networks including Ethereum, Arbitrum and Base.
Besides swaps it offers a lottery, prediction markets and new token sales. That breadth is deliberate — PancakeSwap positions itself as a whole amusement park around trading rather than a pure exchange.
The CAKE token went through a fundamental tokenomics change. It originally had unlimited emission and liquidity mining rewards diluted it continuously; since 2023 a cap of 450 million applies and burning often exceeds emission, so supply falls. It is an illustration of how fundamentally a token's rules can change within a few years.
