About Lighter
Lighter is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange built on Ethereum. It differs in what it proves cryptographically: not only that a transaction happened, but that orders were matched and liquidations executed by the rules. Most decentralized order-book exchanges do that matching off-chain and the user must trust it was fair.
Zero-knowledge proofs serve this purpose, allowing the correctness of a computation to be verified without repeating it. The aim is performance comparable to a centralized exchange while keeping verifiability.
It is a young project. For exchange tokens generally, value rests on a particular platform's volumes — and in this sector those move quickly to wherever incentives are currently running.
