About KuCoin
KCS is the token of the KuCoin exchange, launched in 2017, and it differs from other exchange tokens in one way: it distributes part of the exchange's trading fees to holders as a daily bonus. That model is closer to a dividend than a discount card, which is also what draws regulators' attention.
Beyond that, the token lowers fees, opens access to new token sales and fuels the KuCoin Community Chain. Supply gradually shrinks through buybacks and burns from revenue, targeting 100 million tokens.
The exchange faced US charges in 2024 over missing registration and an inadequate AML programme; the case ended in a settlement and an exit from the US market. For the token, that is a reminder that value rests on one company's regulatory standing.
