About Cardano
Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain launched in 2017 by Charles Hoskinson, one of Ethereum's co-founders. It is known for its academic approach: protocol changes go through peer-reviewed research. Smart contracts arrived with the Alonzo upgrade in 2021, and since 2025 the network has been governed on-chain by ADA holders.
