About Blockchain Capital
BCAP is not a cryptocurrency but a tokenised stake in a venture fund managed by Blockchain Capital. The fund invests in companies and projects in the crypto sector and the token represents participation in it — a security in digital form, not a network token.
The issuance took place back in 2017 and was among the first of its kind. Holding is limited to accredited investors and transfers are subject to securities rules, a fundamental difference from ordinary tokens: not anyone can buy and sell it.
It appears in crypto rankings because of its technical form, not its nature. Value follows the fund's portfolio — stakes in private companies — and those are revalued rarely, so the price does not react to the market the way a crypto asset does.
