Aster is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange formed in late 2024 from the merger of Astherus and APX Finance. Holders of the original APX token could migrate their holdings to ASTER.
It differs from competitors through hidden orders — a trader can place a position so its size is not publicly visible. On a decentralized exchange, where everything else sits in an open book, that feature is meant to stop others trading against a known position.
The exchange runs across several chains and trades without taking custody of funds. The ASTER token is used for voting and platform benefits; as with all exchange tokens, its value is tied to a single platform's volumes.
