About Aptos
Aptos launched in October 2022, built by former Meta engineers from the Diem team — the same project that produced its rival Sui. Both networks use the Move language but differ in data model: Aptos kept an account layout close to Ethereum's, while Sui chose an object-based one.
Its key technology is Block-STM, parallel transaction execution. The network attempts to process transactions at once and only re-runs the affected ones in the correct order when it finds two touched the same data. It therefore need not know in advance what each transaction will do — a practical difference from Solana, which requires account access to be declared up front.
APT pays fees, is staked and used for voting. As with Sui, criticism targets the distribution of supply between team and investors with gradual unlocks.
